\"\"<\/a>I help people and businesses to realise their potential: acting as an advisor; author; coach; facilitator; and project director.<\/p>\n

I have a broad global portfolio from working at all levels across a range of industries: development \/ 3rd sector; energy; finance;\u00a0 government\/public sector; information; knowledge management; law; leisure; retail; and software.<\/p>\n

My early background was financial yet eclectic: I spent 25 years in the City as a Senior Manager Corporate Finance at Saudi International Bank and as a Vice President at Zurich Reinsurance.<\/p>\n

Since 1998 I’ve run a portfolio of activities: Strategy & Business Advisor to the CEO of software and consultancy group Sopheon PLC;<\/a> Advisor to the CEO of a leading reinsurance broker BMS Group; <\/a>and Managing Partner Sparknow LLP.<\/a><\/p>\n

I have helped growing young businesses think about their future strategic direction and ‘selling’ that vision and indeed their exit strategies<\/a>. Examples include: Ellipsiis Media (now dotdigital);<\/a> Le Magasin<\/a> Lewes, Logicamentes <\/a>in Portugal and an embryonic energy storage business.<\/a> I have in addition conducted due diligence for a venture capital group on potential acquisitions.<\/p>\n

I am the co founder and Finance Director of Bees Homes Property Limited<\/a> an award winning real estate business focusing on selling unique homes since 2017.<\/p>\n

I combine pro bono activities (previously a founding Trustee of UK charity Plan Zheroes) with paid consultancy work, teaching and coaching.<\/p>\n

In 2017 I became the Knowledge & Information Ambassador for the Chartered Institute of Libraries & Information Professionals (CILIP) and a member of the project board overseeing the development of a Chartership and Fellowship Accreditation.\u00a0 In 2019 I was given the Walford Award for outstanding contributions to the KIM professions and 2020 I was elected President Elect of CILIP. <\/a>serving as it’s President in 2021.<\/p>\n

I was Executive Chairman of Pyecombe Golf Club<\/a> for 3 years creating a team ethos and a strategic direction based upon effective engagement. I have also managed a football club Hassocks Football Club<\/a>.\u00a0 Diplomacy intrigues me. I am a member of the Royal Institute for International Affairs (Chatham House) and for 15 years, the Institute of Directors.<\/p>\n

A former member of the Faculty at Brighton University teaching on their Knowledge & Innovation Management MBA, and of the International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur, I sat on the BSI KM Standards Committee and assisted in the development of ISO 30401 KM Standards released in November 2018.<\/p>\n

For a decade I sat on the Executive Advisory Board of SocialNow,<\/a> a unique event based in Portugal that looks at how social media impacts business.<\/p>\n

Among many articles are: “Narrative enquiry: A way to get organizations (and the people in them) talking and acting differently”<\/em><\/a> published by Sage,\u00a0 “Story as a tool to capitalize on <\/em>knowledge assets”<\/em><\/a> published in BIR,<\/p>\n

In conjunction with Patricia Eng (former KM Head of US Nuclear Regulary Authority) I completed a book on ‘Navigating the Minefield: A Practical KM Companion<\/em>‘<\/em> published Q2 2017 by American Society for Quality<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em>In 2018 I am one of the co-authors of “Knowledge Management Matters: Words of Wisdom from Leading Practitioners” <\/em>. <\/em><\/p>\n

In 2019 I was a coauthor of The KM Cookbook\u00a0<\/a>published to glowing reviews and featuring 16 global organisations with their programmes mapped to The KM Canvas. <\/em><\/p>\n
